This piece was named after Lucretia - a noblewoman from Ancient Rome, whose death led to a rebellion that brought down the corrupted monarchy. This made her a martyr for freedom and an enduring symbol of female strength. This piece was inspired by strength out of struggle. An extract from the Malleus Maleficarum - a horrific 15th century book that describes the appropriate punishment for accused witches adorns a halo of thorns. While the scared heart has been reimagined as a choker necklace.
